Yellow Heaven
Barnabas Collins,  Soap Opera Vampire Edmund, Bodice Ripping Pirate Hercule Poirot, The Greatest Detective Ever Edgar Allan Poe, Poet. These are Debi's friends. A Gothic tale where the young protagonist is trying to find the light while struggling in the relationship with her despairing and critical mother.  Her friends are literary and television characters brought to life.  But as time goes on her best friends become the little yellow pills.

Written and Performed by Debi Ham

Bio:Loving anything Gothic, Debi imagined herself as a true Gothic heroine with long a flowing a white gown, hair whipping against her face in the wind and a candle always at her side.  When the vampire Barnabas Collins joined the cast of the day time soap, Dark Shadows, she knew that he would rescue her from her painful suburban life and take her to his home on the top of the hill over looking the sea.  An outsider and painfully shy child, Debi has been a voracious reader from a very young age.  The characters in her books were her real friends and she would have many adventures with them.  Even now she spends many pleasant hours with book in hand.  Like some people who didn't quite fit in, Debi's attraction for the performing arts manifested early and in her 20's she began her creative journey, which she later learned was a journey to the light and the truth within.  She saw A Chorus Line and said "I want to do that" and wandered into her first dance class  disco Jazz.   From dance it was a natural progression to theatre where she earned a Theatre Arts Degree from San Francisco State University.  Debi started writing and telling stories a few years ago and one of her first stories Blue Boy and Atar,  tells the story of her maternal grandmother's move from Syria to Canada and finally the United States, incorporating one of her other loves - playing the Djembe.  Yellow Heaven is her first Solo Performance.
