A workshop that invites kids to think about their favorite places in Portland or what they wish our city had. Together the kids will build their own miniature city, using paint and collage to transform recycled cardboard boxes into buildings they would like to see in our community. Each child is encouraged to take on the project however they react to the prompt, whether it be their dream home, a community garden, or a new local business as based in reality or fantasy as they choose. Each child will make their own building, and at the end of the workshop we will take time to arrange them together and create our community. We will close the workshop by having a dialogue around how their unique buildings come together to create their collective dream city and compare this idea to the actual city we live in.
