ERIC SALT AND THE ELECTRIC CITY Boston rock band with an eclectic sound. Formed from The Abbey Lounge scene in 2005, Eric enlisted brother Denis, bassist Eric Anderson, and guitarist Mike Oram. They recorded the LP "The Hail Mary" with producer Ed Valauskas at famed Q Division Studios. Eric continues to perform solo shows and spends time scoring and producing at Mosquito Studios just outside Boston. In Late 2006 Eric scored the indie movie The Busker (www.thebuskerthemovie.com ) written and directed by Steve Croke. In early 2006 he contributed scoring to critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker David Sutherland's "Country Boys" which debuted on Frontline to rave revues. Eric's music has also been featured in television shows such as "Dawson's Creek" and "Summerland". 2009 recording and touring to come!
PHIL AIKEN AND THE REGULAR CASANOVAS Tonight features the live debut of the side project Phil Aiken and The Regular Casanovas. Phil became known around Boston and elsewhere as a long term gun-for-hire piano/organ player with Buffalo Tom. He has filled that same role with Bill Janovitz and Crown Victoria, and Delta Clutch (now the Blizzard of '78). He has also performed or recorded with the likes of Little Feat, James Taylor, Graham Parker, Julian Hatfield, Tanya Donelly, Peter Gammons, Eddie Vedder, a bunch of the Boston Red Sox, an Elvis impersonator and others. Mostly though, Phil is a songwriter. This was his main focus before people started calling him in as a player, and it still is.
RYAN ALVANOS et al. Ryan Alvanos is a poet by training, phrase-smith by trade, songwriter by passion, busker by calling, and whim-blown vagabond by good fortune. He's trotted the globe toting instruments and spilling ink on his ever changing here and now. Place after place, he peruses the lines of his pocket-sized Moleskines and the under-thumbed pages of the Western songbook for tunes that fit each of his impromptu stages from Boston's street corners to Hyderabad's Hindi-dinned nightspots. From Here is Ryan's latest. It features a heaping helping of local-crème musicians: Tom Bianchi, Sean Staples, Raleigh Green, Eric Royer, Dan Blakeslee, Mike Greenstein, Jenny Cluggish-Leong, Marcus Milius, Kara Kulpa and Vance Gilbert. The series of songs studies places and hinges squeaklessly on lovingly turned phrases. At the heart of this album are Ryan's fluent finger picking and lyrics that shimmy between whim and worry, East and West, abundance and scarcity, and between taking off and staying put.
