Seattle Japanese Garden Presents an Evening of
MOONVIEWING (tsukimi no kai)
Saturday, Aug 1st, 2009 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (Gate will open at 6:00 pm)
The garden is magically lit with lanterns luminaries and floating boats in celebration of the harvest moon. Enjoy a diverse night of cultural entertainment in honor of the moon.
Performances will include Japanese Dance by the Fujima Dance Ensemble, Shinobue (Transverse Japanese bamboo Flute) performed by Yasuko Honjo Harris, "Taketori Monogatari" performed by Naho Shioya and William Satake Blauvelt (of Aono Jikken Ensemble); traditional Okinawan music by Mako and Munjuru; and a performance of classical and contemporary Japanese Music by Marcia Takemura, Chigusa Kitai and James Jennings.
View a special appearance by the moon (weather permitting) through telescopes.
Urasenke Foundation Seattle Branch will present a Tsukimi Chakai; or Moon Viewing Tea Gatherings at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30 pm. Teas for this event are by $20 (plus $15 event admission) by advance reservation on Brown Paper Tickets.
