Dis-FUN-ctional starring Joanne Lapointe is a one-woman musical tour de force.
Singer and Actress Joanne Lapointe with star in a new one-woman musical cabaret-style concert entitled "Dis-FUN-ctional" at 2 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Arthur Newman Theater at The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert. The show is part of the popular on-going Sundays In Summer Series, now in it's 5th season, and presented by Les Michaels of Life Is A Cabaret. "Dis-FUN-ctional will look at the lives of most women when they reach 'a certain age', with an eclectic range of song styles that punctuate and span touchy subjects like entering the on-line dating scene, job security, preparing for retirement, going through 'the change', diet and exercise, and dealing with relatives - especially ex'es, and promises something for everyone with many laughs, along with some cheers and maybe a few tears.
Joanne Lapointe, who lives just up the 10 in Beaumont, has been described as 'Beverly Sills meets Bette Milder', and has appeared in dozens of cabaret shows and musical theater productions and kiddingly admits to playing the role of Evita's Mother in four different productions. Her musical director and pianist for this show will be local favorite Joel Baker, who is a busy guy around the valley, playing at multiple weekly gigs as well as for student classes at C.O.D. and for the Gay Men's Chorus.
