Swingin' The Dream Tribute to Lyricist Eddie DeLange
You may not know Warren Delange, and maybe not even his famous fathers name, but you're sure to know his many hit songs from an era when lyrics meant something. "Swingin' The Dream" is Warren's a one-man cabaret style concert that pays tribute to lyricist Eddie DeLange that will be presented at a 2 PM matinee on Sunday, June 1st at Arthur Newman Theater in The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert.
Eddie DeLange was the lyricist for such songs as Solitude, Moonglow, Darn That Dream, String Of Pearls, Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans and countless others. The shows title "Swingin' The Dream" refers to an actual Broadway musical written by Eddie DeLange which, at the time of it's production, was the most lavish and expensive one produced to that date. Of course many have long-since past its budget and then some. Luckily, Warren has the voice and presence to pull off a show such as this and will be joined by local Joel Baker on piano. There are even a few film clips and photos from the big band and swing days when his father worked with all the greats of the time.
