Nathaniel Talbot with Anna Tivel
Nathaniel Talbot with Special Guest Anna Tivel
Nathaniel Talbot - With influences ranging from prodigious guitar pickers such as Doc Watson, Leo Kotke, and Kelly Joe Phelps, to the more soulful folk poetry of Elliott Smith, Gillian Welch, and Paul Simon, the music represents a unique synthesis of old-time picking and the Indie here-and-now. Nathaniel combines masterful finger-style guitar work with thoughtful, melodic vocal lines to create a sonic experience that is truly fresh and impactful. His latest release "Here in the Fields" is filled with rich and bucolic narratives, taking the listener along the overlooks and through the underbellies of various Pacific Northwest landscapes and rural communities. His songs are directly inspired by his daily work on an organic farm on Whidbey Island.
"Mixing lush string arrangements, enveloping lyrical stories and a voice that elicits the ghosts of folk's storied past, Talbot cuts through the throngs of the Pacific Northwest's folk-pop hopefuls and stands high above in class unto himself." SSG MUSIC
"Talbot is a chronicler of the human condition, in its many forms, and the play between his finger-picked guitar and Tivel's violin provides a delicate, otherworldly atmosphere, and one that is wholly captivating" - LEICESTER BANGS (UK)
Singer-songwriter Anna Tivel's wide-eyed celestial folk songs belong in a similar ballpark with Anais Mitchell, Gregory Alan Isakov, and Laura Veirs, where gentle picking plucks among occasionally unconventional sounds ,and a gorgeous voice tells stories of life in a world of natural wonders. The resulting music is incredibly honest, lyric-driven, and deeply affecting. Intimate ballads, sweet soprano, finger picked guitar and fine fiddling. A completely captivating experience.
