Survival of the Wildest
For our second installment of Wild Yonder, we'll be getting in touch with our wild sides! Hosted on the beautiful grounds of Shakori Hills in Pittsboro, NC, this special day will invite campers to channel their competitive spirit, explore their apocalyptic preparedness and test their survival skills.

Stephen Mullaney (Wigg Report/Where This Path Leads) will lead campers in a course on "The First 48," a zombie apocalypse preparedness workshop teaching valuable skills in tarp shelter construction, water purication, knot tying and abandoned home provisions foraging, for after the walking dead have taken over.

Ashley Christensen and James Goodnight Jr. of the forthcoming Death & Taxes will host a cocktail hour and round-table discussion about preservation in food and community.
Learn how to make a camp stove out of a beer can and constellation scopes during grown-up arts and crafts hour.

We'll churn fresh ice cream through a friendly game of kickball, and use it in coffee-bourbon cocktails.

Try your hand at the art of food preservation in a forum on smoking, pickling, canning and charcuterie.

See how much you've retained in a shelter-building challenge, with handsome rewards going to the most survival-ready constructions.

Enjoy an MRE dinner of the highest class, prepared by Cheetie Kumar of Garland in Raleigh, with beer provided by Durham's own nanobrewery Ponysaurus.

Sing your heart out around the campfire, led by Phil Cook of Megafaun; then get your hands sticky with the always delicious Wild Yonder s'mores (from the fine folks at Videri Chocolate Factory and Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop in Durham).

In addition to the activities listed above, tickets include a round-trip ride on the Wild Yonder Fall Out Shuttle* with pick up and drop off in Durham, hip-packs full of essential supplies to survive the day, and a copy of How To Stay Alive in the Woods by Bradford Angier.

*Bus Call is 1pm in Durham (Location TBA) and leaves camp at 10pm, returning to Durham for drop off.
