The Best of the Hometown Hootenanny
After nearly five years of shows at the Historic Everett Theatre, the final presentation of the Hometown Hootenanny in Everett this year is set for Saturday, June 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. The Historic Everett Theatre is located at 2911 Colby Ave. in downtown Everett.
A recent change in ownership of the vintage theatre also brought about a new management strategy, with a focus on in-house productions and touring shows. Red Curtain Foundation, which produces the Hometown Hootenanny, was unable to secure any dates for its popular country, folk and bluegrass music series through the end of 2014.
The June 14 show is a retrospective production, a "best-of" show that will feature the Hometown Band and a half-dozen returning guest acts. Audience favorites Reggie Miles, J.W. McClure, Michael McFadden, the Jangles Duo, the Rainieros and Blueberry Hill will help bid farewell to the Hootenanny's home for the past five years.
The Hootenanny will continue in the fall, with shows scheduled at the Wagner Performing Arts Center in Monroe. An outdoor concert is also tentatively planned for this summer in Marysville. Tickets for the June 14 show are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors/students/military, and only $5 for kids 12 and under. Purchase tickets online at brownpapertickets.com or by calling the Everett Theatre at (425) 258-6766. The box office opens at 6:30 the day of the show.
Free parking is available at the EverPark Garage, at the corner of Hoyt and Hewitt, just a block from the Historic Everett Theatre.
