MAX MSP to the MAX x Arduino
This workshop is designed for total beginners to Arduino and especially someone who is interested in making noise with it! If your Arduino has been sleeping in your drawer and you have been too busy to have a look at online tutorials, this would be a great opportunity to try out Arduino with an instructor. In this workshop, MAX MSP is going to be used as a programming tool, not the Arduino application, which means you don't need to worry about learning a different way of coding in Arduino if you never tried it before. The instructor will introduce Arduino as an interface to use other electronics as inputs and outputs.
You are expected to know how to program MAX MSP to attend this workshop and also have the program on your computer already. This workshop does NOT require high ability to use MAX MSP, so INTERMEDIATE level is good enough. If you are willing to attend the workshop with the free 30-day trial of MAX MSP, that is also fine but this workshop is not to teach MAX MSP from the scratch.
Light Dependent Resistors (LDR) and LED lights are going to be used to demonstrate how to get data from analogue inputs and outputs of Arduino. LDRs are low cost but very efficient and easy to handle.
PREPARATION:
1.Arduino
Level: TOTAL BEGINNERS BRING your Arduino. (Flux is NOT providing it.) ** Arduino UNO is the most up-to-date version but if you have older ones, they are also fine. 2.MSP
Level: INTERMEDIATE Should be INSTALLED in your laptop already. ** Free 30-day trial is fine but you should be at least an intermediate level user. If a participant is a total beginner to MAX MSP, it is the participant's responsibility to teach himself/herself the basic knowledge of MAX MSP. The free tutorial coming with MAX MSP is a great tool to start. 3.LDR + LED
Will be PROVIDED ** The entrance fee is to cover this cost. PLUS: some refreshment!
