Lisa Koch in Ashland, OR!
SINGER-COMIC RETURNS TO ASHLAND
Wacky Seattle singer/comedian Lisa Koch returns to her hometown for a night of twisted comedy and fabulous tunes!
Picture a fusion of Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, and Joan Jett... and youve got Lisa Koch. An irreverent Seattle singer/comic, Koch (Coke) is a deliciously warped mix of comedy, theater, and demented songs. She has released 4 solo recordings, is one-half of hilarious sketch-comedy duo, Dos Fallopia ("My Breasts Are Out of Control"), and is an alumnus of cult quartet Venus Envy ("I'll Be A Homo for Xmas"). She performs at folk and comedy festivals all over the world, and has shared the stage with Steve Martin, Dave Brubeck, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Kate Clinton, and Janis Ian.
Koch grew up in Ashland and started her musical career in the Rogue Valley, performing with her brother David. She later joined rock band In Flight, and toured with local singer Lisa Spencer (Lisa and Lisa). She was a regular performer at popular Ashland club Jazmin's, and reunites for this concert with her former boss, David Zaslow (now Rabbi Zaslow).
Lisa has co-written such warped cabaret shows as "The Carpeters: Uncomfortably Close To You," "Deja Poo" and Ham for the Holidays: Swine, Women and Song. She has appeared in two one-woman shows at Oregon Cabaret Theatre (Twos Company, Im a Crowd and "Return to Planet Lisa"). Lisa also finds time to act in regional theater, appearing in "The Vagina Monologues, "Dirty Blonde, and as the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (5th Ave Theatre).
She performs regularly on Olivia Cruises, has been seen on LOGO, and is the composer of a musical about Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas (27, Rue de Fleurus), which premiered Off-Broadway last spring. Kochs latest CD, Tall Cool Drink contains the internet hit, Im a Middle-Aged Woman (www.heylisa.com).
Tickets are $15 advance, $18 door. Available online at www.brownpapertickets.com, and can also be purchased at The Music Coop, 181 A St., Ashland.
