Hanz Araki Celtic Trio
Award-winning traditional Irish flute player and vocalist Hanz Araki will be joined by vocalist and bodhrán player Colleen Raney and multi-instrumentalist Sean Earnest for an exclusive live performance at The Dance Hall in Kittery, Maine on Saturday, June 7th at 8:00pm. Araki was recently named "an Irish music phenomenon in west coast America," while Raney was deemed "among the best in her genre," both by Irish Music Magazine.
Hanz Araki is known for his fresh an innovative approach to traditional Irish and Scottish music. The son of a Japanese shakuhachi Grand Master, Araki Kodo V, and a Scots-Irish mother, his musical sensibility is both inspired and disciplined and has made him a household name from the UK to Japan. COLLEEN RANEY bodhrán, vocals Portland, Oregon's Colleen Raney is a gifted traditional singer who recently released her fourth album, titled Here This is Home which was produced by guitarist, singer, and producer Aidan Brennan and engineered by Trevor Hutchinson over the summer of 2013 in Dublin, Ireland. Among the finest interpreters of traditional songs of her generation, Colleen Raney grew up inspired by the Irish and Scottish songs and tunes in the rich Irish community in Seattle. SEAN EARNEST guitar Bouzouki and guitar player Sean Earnest's sensitive yet eclectic musical stylings have taken him far from his native central Pennsylvania. He is among the most in-demand Celtic traditional music accompanists today and can be heard on stages up and down both coasts of the United States and all points in between. Sean spends most of his time in New York and the greater Northeast, where he can be heard playing and recording with some of the top talents of the genre including Téada, The Paul McKenna Band, Cathie Ryan, and Colleen Raney. Most recently Sean has been playing with his band, The Yanks, whose highly anticipated second album will be released in 2014.
