THE MUSIC MAN
This classic musical with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson tells the story of a fast-talking swindler Harold Hill and how he meets his match, a small town librarian, Marian Paroo. Hill sells musical instruments and uniforms and preachers the benefits of a marching band to small town folk, all for quick cash in his pocket and then "Goodbye, small town". Marian sees through his smooth talk and wants to expose him, but then realizes the positive effects he has on her shy brother, Winthrop and on the townsfolk. And she has an effect on Harold too! What will happen in River City?? How about Harold and Marian? This show has a lovely bunch of tunes, some you probably hum in the car and/or shower. My favorites: 76 Trombones and Till There Was You.
