In it's 14th year, Water Works Theatre company is proud to present Shakespeare's greatest play, HAMLET July 31- August 10 outdoors in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park.
The one must-see Shakespeare show! Loyal to the Bard's genius, and the Dane's perfect soliloquies, Water Works has gathered Michigan's finest actors and designers to bring you this thrilling clash of deadly swords and even sharper wit. The original underdog, Prince Hamlet faces down real ghosts and his own demons to make things right in his kingdom. This Hamlet takes place in the now, because his words and aspirations are always true.
When you purchase tickets online, you'll have to select a performance you'd like to attend. But your ticket to HAMLET is good for ANY Hamlet performance: Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8:00pm and Sundays at 5:00pm. So come on the date you choose, or come to another - it's your choice.
Starr Jaycee Park is a 28-acre public park with play structures, a disk golf course, mini-train tracks, ball diamonds and lots of old growth trees.
For two weeks this summer, the park will also be home to a barrier-free, open-air theatre custom built by Water Works Theatre Company. We make sure that people who come to enjoy the park can have unrestricted access to the facilities, even if they are not attending our shows. However, we do close the child play structures and disk golf holes 9 and 18 during our performances.
Our Shakespeare show lasts about two and a half hours with an intermission. It's Michigan, so we suggest you dress for the weather to change, just in case.
You can't bring your own, but we are pleased to offer beer and wine for sale during Hamlet performances. Proper ID required. Convenient parking is available at or adjacent to Starr Jaycee Park.
