Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio! The Obligatory June Gay Comedy Night This monthly (every 3rd Thursday of the month) multicultural comedy show, featuring an eclectic mix of comedians celebrates Gay Pride Month with "The Obligatory June Gay Comedy" on June 19. Comedy Returns to El Rio! was created in celebration of comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig's (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy) 20th year doing comedy; she began her comedy career in 1989 at El Rio.
The Obligatory June Gay Comedy Night features LGBT comedians: Karinda Dobbins (Nickelodeon's "NickMom Night Out"), Bob McIntyre, Bobby Golden, Irene Tu, and Lisa Geduldig (Producer of Kung Pao Kosher Comedy).
Karinda Dobbins hails from the Motor City (Detroit) and now lives in the Bay Area. Her humor is sharp, distinctive, and infused with hilarious social commentary. Karinda has performed on NickMom Night Out on Nickelodeon, has opened for Greg Proops and W. Kamau Bell, and has performed at SF Sketchfest and The Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Bitch Magazine said she is one of "Six Hilarious Female Comedians You Don't Know Yet But Should."
Bob McIntyre is a veteran of the East Coast restaurant scene who brought his act West in the mid 90's to spread joy to the diners of San Francisco. You may recognize him from his role in "12 Years at Sparky's" and his current four-year run in "I Am the 1%: Gay Waiter, Straight Sports Bar." Bob is currently working on a one-man show based on his 34 years in the business, tentatively titled "Sit at A Dirty Table, Stay at A Dirty Table."
Bobby Golden was born the youngest out of three Persians in Westlake Village, CA. He began performing stand up comedy at the age of 17 and has been unstoppable ever since. He has performed at all the major clubs in Los Angeles including The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and Laugh Factory and has been featured in Palm Springs' Pulp Magazine and Santa Monica Magazine. Bobby was a semi-finalist in KTLA5's "Find Me a Comic" Contest and was voted Funniest Gay Comedian of May 2009 by the Celebration Theatre in West Hollywood.
Irene Tu is a stand-up comic, writer, and performer from Chicago, now living in the Bay Area. Some have described her as "sarcastic," but she just tells it like it is. Irene has performed in SF Sketchfest, Limestone Comedy Festival, She-Devil Comedy Festival, Chicago Women's Funny Festival, and was a finalist in Rooftop Comedy's National College Comedy Competition. You can see her perform all around the Bay Area.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (which celebrates its 22nd year this December); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
