Songs of Needful Love - Daniel Teadt, Baritone
Please join us in the peaceful courtyard of East Liberty Presbyterian Church for a special benefit concert with internationally acclaimed baritone Daniel Teadt and Renaissance City Choir pianist William Larson, along with Renaissance City Choir soloists Nathan Hart, Jeffrey Gross, Alexandra Vansuch, Kate Hammill, and Timothy Kocher-Hillmer.
There is no perfect song. Because there is no perfect way of expressing love to one another. There are only dimensions of love we can offer to each other in hopes we are understood, accepted and loved in return. Songs Of Needful Love is an offering of imperfect perceptions of love: love from afar, the love of oneself, the love of a new suit, love that is an illusion. They all get at the same story, telling and retelling, turning the idea over and over until what is finally perfect emerges: Love between two people is real and the imperfections are only illusions. Celebrating the exquisite music of Benjamin Britten, Ned Rorem, Mark Blitzstein, Stephen Sondheim, Ricky Ian Gordon and many others is such a pleasure for me. The simple harmony of voice and piano against the ear may fall away, but what remains when these songs are over is what matters most.
I am proud to present this concert to benefit my friends at the Renaissance City Choir. Their expressions of love through music have left so many of us changed for the better, and I hope to be an echo of this.
