Sitting Pretty: Freeing Your Hips with the Feldenkrais Method
With Angela Alston, GCFP, MFA & Tadd McCullough
"A few minutes of Feldenkrais can give you the flexibility & postural benefits of hours of stretching exercises." Anne Rosenthal, PhD
Whether you are a yogi, dancer or athlete, or would just like to develop more freedom in your hip joints, you'll benefit from this Awareness Through Movement workshop. When your pelvis and hip joints move freely, your upper and lower body coordinate to produce powerful, precise, graceful movements, and ease in moving or sitting.
Limit: 15.
Requirement: Please be comfortable lying on your back, stomach, or side, and floor sitting.
What to wear: Wear several layers of loose-fitting clothing.
In an Awareness Through Movement class, the instructor guides students through a series of movement sequences organized around a particular function. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into greater range and complexity. ATM is the active version of The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. The method approaches movement and learning based on principles of biomechanics and neuroscience.
