BIG BRO / lil bro by Jonathan Ceniceroz
COMPANY OF ANGELS PRESENTS BIG BRO / Lil Bro,
A WORLD PREMIERE PLAY

Carlos Aguirre (Jorge Casteneda), an aging pretty boy from Montebello, leaves his elderly Caucasian lover (Art McDermott) for a younger man (Xavi Moreno), who is even more steely and narcissistic than himself.  When the new relationship falters over money matters and role play, the younger couple is lured toward desperate and lethal measures.  The play is directed by Josh Chambers, a co-artistic director of Fovea Floods.  It is produced by Ricardo Bracho, Literary Manager of Company of Angels, and Xavi Moreno.

Jonathan Ceniceroz, a native of Los Angeles, began writing plays as an undergraduate at UCLA.  His first play Easy Jesus appeared at Dixon Place, a long-standing venue for alternative plays and musicals in New York.  This led to a Van Lier Fellowship with New Dramatists.  Many plays followed, including Lupe, Now!, Strange Brew, fin finale, and The Blessing of the Animals.  His play, Mousy Brown, was recently made into a film, which will join the festival circuit next year.  Ceniceroz holds an MFA from Brown University.

We are very excited about presenting the world premiere of BIG BRO / Lil Bro by Jonathan Ceniceroz, said Armando Molina, artistic director of Company of Angels.  It is our intent to nurture the works of Los Angeles playwrights, and this play, providing a rare look at the non-WeHo gay scene, reflects the diversity of works that we at Company of Angels encourage and support.

Company of Angels is located Inside The Black Box at the Alexandria, 501 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles.  Founded in 1959 as an artists cooperative, the company will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a gala event in October.  The theater produces works that reflect the diversity that is Los Angeles and the issues the City faces.  The company holds bimonthly playwrights group sessions, accepts original material for first-run production and fosters staged readings and workshops on a regular basis.
