Beyond the Threshold: Seattle Dance Theater Invitational
A new performance event comes to Seattle, Beyond the Threshold: Seattle Dance Invitational presenting artist-driven exchanges of international scope.
Two companies will be presented in a split bill each night. Sharing an evening, The Phffft! Dance Theatre Company of Seattle, WA, and Collectif Entre Deux of Tours, France will perform Friday and Sunday November 10th and 12th at 8pm presenting their own works and a peek preview of their international collaboration project. Brazilian-born Artistic Director, Valeria Ball with her Oregon-based group Traduza Dance Comapny will join an evening with Ecuadorian-born artist Pablo Cornejo and his Company performing on Saturday November 11th at 8pm. Audiences can see all four companies in two evenings with a festival pass.
Inspired by artist to artist inquiry, this festival reaches out to artistic directors from companies across the globe or next door bringing an authentic artistic vision to dance and immersing the audience in an international celebration of movement.
Intermissions will feature Tango demonstrations where audience members may be enticed to jump in for a one minute ride... or watch an intimate videotaped interview with immigrants from India to Holland speak movingly about their experience in smalltown U.S.A.
