Building Economies of Well-being: Tools for Measuring and Managing Genuine Wealth
Sponsored by Shorebank Pacific and Portland State University School of Business
Sustainability literature includes information on genuine progress indicators(GPI) and how they are different from our current economic indicators including the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The Genuine Wealth assessment model considers the conditions and sustainability of the human, social, natural, built and financial capital that contribute most to our well-being and community sustainability. How can this thinking be incorporated into day to day business realities? How do we assess our Genuine Wealth and Genuine Progress? Mark Anielski will share his work implementing these concepts on the ground.
Our speaker will share learnings from his work with organizations and communities in assessing their genuine wealth. Included in this will be his work on the Canadian Index of Well-Being and work with communities in Canada, the US, and China. Join us for this thought provoking look into the economics of well-being and learn about how genuine wealth assessment can help measure what matters most in accordance with our values.
Mark Anielski is President and CEO of Anielski Management Inc., working with communities, businesses and governments to help them assess, measure and manage their genuine wealth. In 2004 he was awarded the international ECO Award in the category of the Kyoto Protocol for his work on genuine progress and well-being indicators. He currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta. His new book Genuine Wealth: Building Economies of Well-being will be available in 2007.
