A Celebration of Goat Cheese
A Celebration of Goat Cheese, sponsored by Cheese Connoisseur magazine
Its hard to imagine a time when goat cheese wasnt every cheese lovers darling and fresh goat cheese ubiquitous to every restaurants menu, but not too long ago goat cheese was the bastion of the brave or taste-bud deprived. Imported from France, the typical chevre arrived more often than not a stinking, overripe cheese that disappointed rather than pleasured the palate. It took three hardworking women starting three unique and unconnected businesses to change the perception as well as the reality of goat cheese. Not only did these three bring the joys of fresh goat cheese to American, but they also ultimately changed the face of American cheesemaking.
Sponsored by Cheese Connoisseur, this evening will include a presentation of the history of goat cheese in America. You'll meet some of these prominent American cheesemakers, sampling their cheeses and other interesting new products made from goats milk. Tia Keenan, Cassellulas formager and chef, will use her much lauded expertise to present taste celebrations of goat cheese. Wine and accompaniments will be provided.
