At the end of April, 2014, Joseph Powell & Jewel Coache's baby girl, Madison, was diagnosed with cancer. This fund was created to help them.
Joseph Powell and Jewel Coache's baby girl, Madison, was diagnosed with cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment in Portland for Pediatric Hepatoblastoma, which is a cancer of the liver.
The cancer has spread to her lungs and things aren't looking so good for the family.
The family has medical coverage under the Oregon Health Plan, but this will undoubtedly not cover every expense faced by Joseph and Jewel who have had to take their infant to Portland for treatment. So we have taken it upon ourselves to create this medical fund to try to assist them with at least some of the expenses they are facing.
I have not known Joseph very long - but I can tell you that I have never met a man who was so happy and excited to have a kid. Months after Madison was born he would go out of his way to talk to strangers -- and anybody who would listen about his new baby girl, and with a big dopey smile on his face - he would immediately take out pictures of Madison to show anybody within arms reach.
Best case scenario - Joseph and Jewel come out of this with a healthy baby, but with debt. Worst case... debt and a great deal of grief.
I've set the fundraising goal at $10,000, but I would be pleased to go beyond that to try to help them further.
