Your Imagination runs wild in Ballard!
Seattle, WA -- May 2th, 2003 -- Seattle's progressive and eclectic multimedia art experience, known as the Oracle Gatherings has found itself a new venue in the city: The all-new Segway space in Ballard will host the 12th gathering of this series entitled "Imagination" on Saturday, June 14th, 2003. In its most eclectic creative explosion yet, the event will (barely) contain live local music (including live improvisatory jazz / drum n bass stylists: Siamese), DJ's, Marching Forth (the world's funkiest marching band), The Arthropod Stilt Army, Hoola Hoop Hoopla, The Interactive Invention game room, Candyland, The Fabric & Foam Fort Frollic, a finger paint wall, a bubble performance, and a bevy of bizarre theatrical & circus performances. The summation is an explosive, colorful, high-energy celebration of the creative spirit in all of us.
The Segway, at is a fundraising project of the Ballard Sunday Farmer's Market, organized by Jon Hegeman and Bill Elder (the Fremont Director of the Chamber of Commerce). The goal of the project is to create an activity space for meetings, markets, rehearsals, workshops, classes, entertainment and special events.
The Oracle Gatherings draw from Northwest artists of every genre, including DJ's, musicians, dancers, visual artists, actors, video artists, circus performers, and culinary artists who share in creating the fullest experience of the theme. This event includes artists from Vancouver BC, Portland OR, as well as locals from Olympia and Seattle WA. Those who have been to an Oracle Gathering before have come to expect Ceremony, music, dancing, Tarot readers, yoga, meditation, massage, chai, art instillations, and culminating in a ritual theater production. This formula is what sets these gatherings apart from all other theater, club, and art events. By infusing spirit and celebration, many people have found an open, inviting community waiting for them in the Oracle.
