Triskelion's Summer Shake-Up - JUNE
June 25th Line-Up:

Abby Bender and Cassie Tunick
Sarah Lifson
Chihiro Shimizu and Artists
Rebecca McCormac / CoreDance Contemporary
Cat Wagner / Collaborations
Rachel Pritzlaff / Time Based Art

About The Work:

Got a habit? In "that would be better (if you could stop)", the artists of Cat Wagner/ Collaborations whimsically examine the power of the familiar. Through movement and text, one performer weaves her way in, out, and around her sometimes crippling tendencies.

"Of Loss: Griefs Transitions" from CoreDance Contemporary is an exploration of the seven stages we go through when grieving. A multifaceted response to loss, particularly the loss of someone or something to which a bond was formed, grief has emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, spiritual and philosophical dimensions. In essence, grief is reactive.

Distance is the space that exists between two objects. The term "figurative distance" refers to a metaphorical distance, which implies an awareness of an emotional, cultural, or imagined distance. In Chihiro Shimizu and Artists' "Figure (A) Further", each moment of experience is designed to convey illusion, reality, or psychology of physical and figurative distance. "Figure (A) Further" is an excerpt from the company's new dance creation "Land of Sand", premiering in September 2014.

Since 1992, we've watched what happens when seven strangers stop being polite and start getting real  for the camera. For anyone who came of age in the '90s, The Real World brand of performed selfhood was synonymous with adulthood. In "In/On the Show", witness how our protagonists, Rachel Pritzlaff and Rebecca Hite-Teicheira, attempt to be themselves without the viewers at home. What's an opinion without a Confessionals room anyway?

Through an investigative process that emphasizes exploration, generation, invention, and discovery, Sarah Lifson's "I                 eet Pncaks   for.Din.ner" is a sharing of thoughts on structure, the creative process and its presentation/production, freedom/free verse/free will, and creative identity/authenticity/assertion. With questions specifically targeted towards the dance-making process and the presentation of its product, the work will exist within a number of different mediums, and evolve each time it assumes a new space, conventional or not.

Abby Bender and Cassie Tunick perform a short excerpt of their recent evening-length work, "Totally Other". With dances stolen from ritual, songs borrowed from nature, and a vow of simplicity, secret exchanges grounded in physical humor become a social event. Join them and their multiple personalities at the end of an era as they are lit by random flashes of a playful mind and held together by stubborn perseverance.
