BRAVO Benefit Concert
Come hear leading musicians from the Oregon Symphony, the Portland Cello Project, as well as our very own BRAVO Rosa Parks Youth Orchestra and Chorus perform in a concert to benefit our program of social change through music. BRAVO is an El Sistema*-inspired program that provides tuition-free, intensive music education for nearly 200 students at Rosa Parks School, one of Portland's priority schools (95% poverty, 18 languages spoken).
Who: Featured performers are Jennifer Arnold (viola), Nancy Ives (cello), and Ines Voglar (violin) of the Oregon Symphony; Gideon Freudmann (cello) of the Portland Cello Project; Portland native Becky Anderson (violin)of the Curtis Institute and Juilliard School; joined by students in the BRAVO Rosa Parks String Orchestra and Chorus (2nd and 3rd graders).
Where: The Old Church, downtown Portland, 1422 SW 11th Ave
When: Thursday, July 10, 7-9pm
What: An evening of diverse repertoire and a grand finale for string orchestra and chorus, including slides from our first year of the program and the premiere of a short film about BRAVO. Reception following.
Why: To raise funds for our tuition-free program using the power of music to transform the lives of underserved children in our community.

*Established in 1975 by Jose Antonio Abreu, El Sistema is Venezuela's national system of youth orchestras serving over half a million children each year, over 80% of whom live in poverty.
