Writers Bloc Presents Writing Rock and Roll: Rock Journalist Lisa Robinson with Cameron Crowe
It's possible that rock journalist Lisa Robinson and writer/director Cameron Crowe have contributed more to the understanding of the world of rock and roll than just about anyone. Join Lisa Robinson and Cameron Crowe as they talk and swap rock and roll stories.
If you love reading about rock music, about the leading figures in pop culture, it doesn't get much more interesting than Vanity Fair. Lisa Robinson has been writing on rock and roll for almost forty years, and has covered everyone from John Lennon to Bono to Patti Smith, to more currently, Lady Gaga and Jay Z. Toss in some Rolling Stones, some Zeppelin and some Elvis Costello, and you've got a rock journalist who has been in the trenches and seen it all.
As a rock journalist, Lisa Robinson was something of a pioneer, often the only female rock writer in the picture. She tells the story of rock and roll from someone who was in the room in just about every room for the past four decades.
And when you think of rock journalists, it's difficult not to think of writer/director Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, the great cult classic about a budding young rock and roll writer who lands his story on the cover of Rolling Stone, arguably some of the most valuable real estate in rock music. Crowe's other credits include Jerry Maguire and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
