Celebrate Vancouver Pride with Queer As Funk!
Totally unique in the history of Vancouver's LGBT community, Queer as Funk brings together ten of the city's hottest queer musicians in an explosive, high-energy dance band. With repertoire ranging from beloved funk, soul and motown classics of the 60's and 70's (Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder) to contemporary favourites (Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake, Cee Lo Green), Queer as Funk is also the sharpest-dressed suit-and-tie band in town. Queer as Funk have played to consistently sold-out audiences since their inception in early 2013.
Joining us onstage, the handsomest butch choir in the city, the country, possibly even the universe...Leadfoot! It's been a while since Leadfoot has taken the stage, but make no mistake, they've been hard at work perfecting new harmonies for your listening pleasure. Leadfoot is a chorus of handsome butches bound together by camaraderie and song. Leadfoot dapperly dabbles in many musical generes, accompanying their vocals with the occasional guitar, keyboard, ukelele, rhythm section, glockenspiel (or two), and special guests.
And on the decks, spinning all the tunes that you love to hear, the incomparable Djslade Macdoog!
Hosted by the fabulous Zena Sharman!
We are so lucky to have the amazing Kyra from Soko Sound on the boards for this show, get ready to be wowed by her skillful handling of the sound system.
Bathrooms will be gender neutral for the night. The bathrooms are wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair accessible door at the back of the hall, there will be a volunteer to assist. The stage is not wheelchair accessible.
