Vallejo Symphony - Concert for the Animals
Respighi, La Primavera from Trittico Botticelliana
Prokofiev, Peter and the Wolf (Corey Fischer narrating, Pamela Martin, conducting)
Rimsky-Korsakov, The Flight of the Bumble Bee
Saint-Saëns, The Carnival of the Animals (Happy Dog Piano Duo)

It's all about animals at this show for all ages, presented in partnership with the Humane Society of the North Bay. Respighi's "Primavera" ("Spring") charmingly imitates the sounds of nature's annual awakening. Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" has delighted generations of children with its playful musical themes representing each character. In "The Flight of the Bumble Bee," the whole orchestra becomes a buzzing bee, calm or threatening by turns. Saint-Saëns' delightful "Carnival of the Animals" represents the calls and habits of thirteen animals in clever musical tidbits. This features pianists Eric Tran and Nathan Cheung.(Saint-Saens himself told his publisher that he knew he should be working on his third symphony, but he just couldn't stop composing this piece, "because it's so much fun!")

Corey Fischer is an actor, writer and director who has been creating and performing theatre and acting in films for over for forty years.

His television debut was a featured role on a 1966 episode of Daniel Boone. His first major film was Robert Altman's M*A*S*H, followed by Altman's next two, Brewster McCloud and McCabe and Mrs. Miller. More recent films include Bee Season, Us, and The 5-Year Engagement in which he married Jason Siegel and Emily Blunt. Fischer has also appeared in a number of "classic" TV series including All in the Family, Quincy, Barney Miller and, most recently, Frasier.

Happy Dog Duo, featuring pianist-composers Eric Tran and Nathan Cheung, is an award-winning piano duo that has performed internationally. They have been performing piano 4-hands and 2-piano repertoire for over a decade, since they were in middle school. In piano duo and duet events, they have won 13 gold medals from the United States Open Music Competition. In the summer of 2011, Happy Dog Duo toured with the acclaimed Pawn: The Musical, in Korea, China, Canada, and New York. Locally, they have both performed with the Diablo Symphony Orchestra, the Contra Costa Wind Symphony, the Pan-Asian Music Festival and the Stanford Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras. Recently, Happy Dog Duo performed in a showcase in the newly constructed Bing Concert Hall at Stanford.
