The Poets Were Liars
Wombat Theatre Co in conjunction with Circus Book present The Poets Were Liars a vaudeville reimagining and release of poetry, word, and song by Joe Weil and Emily Vogel.
Theatre isn't enough on its own. Poetry isn't enough on its own. Music isn't enough on its own. Vaudeville is just the right amount.
Two lovers escape to the muddy shores of Maine for the purpose of writing a book of poetry together. How does one poem influence another? How does one action influence another? How does one lover influence the other?
Also featuring the release of Redux: A Field Manual, by Joe Weil. Redux: A Field Manual is the first collection of essays from poet, educator, and activist Joe Weil. It is the product of a merciless habit of writing and shows that the great kvetcher is also the great theorist. The promise of bullshitting is a lofty one for Joe, a SUNY Binghamton professor who studies power relations, sandwiches, and Elizabeth Bishop in the same breath and with the same eager eye. This book features Joe's hallmark Irish humor, but also tracks the genesis of his literary movement, Redux. Recent collections of poetry include The Plumber's Apprentice, The Great Grandmother Light, and West of Home.
