Laudami Ensemble at the Fringe Festival
Long before 19th century nationalism, the schism between the music of France and Italy ran deep, led by Lully and Corelli respectively. To the French, Italians were excessive and unrefined. To the Italians, the French were fussy and mannered. However, Couperin bridged the divide in "Les gouts reunis,". We present French, Italian and hybrid styles, highlighting dramatic differences and some surprising similarities.
The musicians of Laudami are exciting recent graduates of early music programs in the USA and Europe. They also perform regularly with Philharmonia, ABS, Juilliard 415, New York Baroque Incorporated, and Boston Camerata.
