Bach at the Fringe Festival
With so many fine musicians in town for the Berkeley Festival, it would be almost criminal not to put them to work in an Albany Consort big band mainly Bach program. Our selections include Cantata 180 - one of the few with really great recorder parts, and Brandenburg Concert0 3, with a difference - Jonathan Salzedo/s rescoring to include ripieno strings and wind, an extension of an idea that Bach himself had about this piece, plus a very novel slow movement. We also include Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto (hard to resist when you have a fine bass section available), chamber music by Telemann and songs by Purcell. Lunch served after the concert.
