CHERIE BLUES
The perfect opening for a day of Jazz out in the open air! Cherie Blues  a Seattle-based group influenced by Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy, Billie Holliday and others  stirs it up with Blues-infused jazz with a touch of R&B.  Vocalist Cherie Walters lays her smooth tones on a wide selection  of jazz, swing, standards, blues and R&B. Clifford Dibble, an active member of the Seattle Jazz Guitar Society, brings his long career as a jazz guitarist to the group. Bass guitarist, Philippe Joubert, a native of France, has performed with various jazz and rock ensembles both in France and across the United States. Rossen Atanassov, originally from Belgium, has been the drummer for such world-renowned musicians as Dave Samuels and George Garzone. http://cherieblues.com

CORY WEEDS QUARTET
The Cory Weeds Quartet is bound to keep toes tapping with jazz rhythms. Alto saxophonist, Cory Weeds, has recorded 8 records, all of which have reached the Top 10 on the Jazz Week Charts. Operating out of Vancouver, B.C., Weeds ran a successful jazz club for over a decade, runs Cellar Live, an award-winning record label, and plays under The Cellar Jazz Society banner, as well as with some of the finest musicians on the continent, including performing as a member of the saxophone section that backed up Paul Anka in 2006. The Toronto Star said of him, "The show's star took a wild ride on the band's rhythm as if it would carry him off the stage!"  Guitarist Dan Balmer toured for 4 years with Diane Schuur, playing in 15 countries & 60 cities. Described by the Los Angeles Times, as "the model of what a contemporary guitarist should be", Balmer is one of only 5 Oregonians honored with membership in The Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame. Louis Pain, labeled "Portland's Boss of the B-3" by The Oregonian, has played with a host of legendary blues & soul artists, including Paul deLay, Curtis Sulgado, Lloyd Jones and Linda Hornbuckle. Julian MacDonough adds his considerable talent as a jazz drummer to the day's festivities. A former teacher at the Seattle Drum School, MacDonough has played on over 40 CDs and performs throughout the northwest & B.C. in a variety of genres, including jazz, funk and all-country music. http://www.coryweeds.com
