Flower Festival (with Summer's Edge)
What is more June than Ballet Bellevue's bouquet of dance, bursting with beauty and love of the season? One performance only: June 20th at 8:00 PM at Sammamish Performing Arts Center just east of downtown Bellevue (100 140th Ave. S.E., Bellevue, Wa 98005). Artistic Director, Jennifer Porter shares the billing of "fresh picked" new works with choreographers, Kyle Johnson and Terry McKinnon. Three world premieres of edgy new ballets are set off by the all time classic, Flower Festival at Genzano pas de deux by Auguste Bournonville and contemporary masterpiece, Afternoon of a Faun, staged by Porter to the captivating music of Claude Debussy. Ballet Bellevue is the Eastside's own professional ballet company, a small, exquisite ensemble of classically trained dancers performing classical ballet, contemporary masterpieces and new works by Northwest artists. Ballet Bellevue also supports and celebrates arts education for all ages and abilities in the diverse traditions of Bellevue's community. (To warm the stage for the 8:00 PM performance, Ballet Bellevue School will present their 1:00 PM recital, A Midsummer's Tale, featuring dances by children ages 3 to 18 under the direction of teachers, Jill Adomaitis, Christina Stockdale and Yana Mikhaylyuk. Matinee tickets: all seats $15 Call 425.455.1345 Reserve early.)
