Event
New Voices in Live Performance - The Way In (parts 1 & 2) curated by Logan Company
Tickets: $10 in advance and at the door
Two different nights presenting two differing processes of an artist's path of creation. The visitor is walked through a series of images, videos, interview recordings, and movement presentations that all relate back to how the piece they are about to view was created. They are invited to judge, think, enjoy, and respond.
Is there a gap between what we think we understand and what someone else knows? Is there a disconnect between our intellectual and aesthetic enjoyments? As we observe the constructs of what dance has become can we try to push ourselves deeper into understanding the new structures we have begun to use for those creative purposes? These exhibition-like performance evenings, seek to present one artists process at a time, and the artifacts that result while in pursuit of a final product. We present writings, drawings, videos, vocal recordings, movement demonstrations, and wine. We present what was used or thought of to get somewhere. We hope to provide a place where audience and artist can seek toward understanding together, as the raw is handed over and the trials are put out in the open.
