ArtCrawl Harlem, Inc Presents Tribal Art Week
Join ArtCrawl Harlem's 1st Tribal Art Week Exhibition with a special tour of the national landmark Will Marion Cook House on historic Strivers Row (221 West 138th Street). The exhibit will include works from the Frank Wayde Hall estate collection. A long-time resident of the Upper East Side and surviving scion of a Midwestern industrialist, Mr. Hall purchased the 19th Century townhouse in 2012 to set up a private gallery. "A trained architect, his collections reflect an unerring eye for form, beauty and mastery." The Met has received 18 rare Bedouin Feast Plates and more than 400 early 20th Century post cards documenting the architecture of war-torn Aleppo have been given to the British Museum. The donations filled gaps in the collections of the renowned museums. The Harlem exhibit will include tribal African art, African artifacts and textiles, and African-American art from Mr. Hall's collection.
The Tribal Week exhibit and workshop will be available by appointment for group tours for New York City schools. The exhibit will be available to the general public on Saturday, May 24 & 25, 2014 for a $5.00 admission fee or with advance purchase 2 tickets for $5.
