Do or Dine and Sound Liberation Front are teaming up again for "Rub-A-Grub", a food and music backyard party featuring the I Love Vinyl crew including, DJ Scribe, Amir Abdullah, Ge-ology, Jon Oliver and a three part menu crafted by Do or Dine's chefs.
Continuing the good vibes from last year's "Rub-A-Grub" series, Do or Dine and SLF are hosting another beats and bites backyard party series this summer. The event will kick-off in the afternoon and feature three rounds of food and drinks, each coupled with different DJ sets. Round-one will feature appetizers and bloody mary's, followed by a second round of appetizers and beer + shot special. Taking us into the evening will be round three, which will include a featured cocktail and Do or Dine's take on BBQ.
I Love Vinyl presents premier all-vinyl dance parties in NYC, founded in 2009 by six resident DJs. It holds monthly parties at both Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and TBA Brooklyn in Williamsburg. Former Brooklyn homes include Brooklyn Bowl, Cameo, and Public Assembly Loft. With over 100 years of spinning, and over 100,000 records between them, all-stars Ge-ology, Amir (Kon & Amir), The Twilite Tone (Great Weekend), OP!, Jon Oliver (The Main Ingredient/EVR) and Scribe comprise the Dream Team. The sounds are mind-wide, foot-friendly, and snap crackle popping, which means that genre, time period, and recognizability take a back seat to quality, taste, and skill here, in the tradition of the innovators of the Art of Moving Butts. You might hear some Soul, Disco, Dilla, Boogie, Hustle, Hip-Hop, House, Techno, No Wave, New Jack Swing, Dancefloor Jazz, Latin, Funk, Electro, Punk/Funk or Afrobeat. Whatever you hear, it will be weaved into a cohesively funky, and irresistibly danceable, revolutionary sonic manifesto.
Do or Dine has been paving an innovative culinary trail in Bed-Stuy since in 2011, receiving wide acclaim for their fun and eccentric approach to cuisine or "fine diving" as the owners coined it. NY Magazine notes, "nothing is as straightforward as it seems. There are (savory) doughnuts stuffed with foie gras mousse, and fried dumplings under a veil of melted cheese an Asian-fied play on nachos."
Sound Liberation Front has been hosting music events in Brooklyn since 2007. From underground parties to large scale productions, SLF events have been featured by NPR, Time Out NY, Village Voice and National Geographic. Last year's Coney Island Reggae Beach Party was featured in the 101 Best Things To Do This Summer and Top 5 Waterfront Events by Time Out NY.
