Rupert Wates in concert
Rupert Wates brings his years of experience, six CDs, 30 songwriting awards, the 2013 Performer of the Year title from Concerts in Your Home, and the accolades of people from all over the country to Sundilla on Friday, June 6. Admission at the door is $12, though $10 tickets are available from Spicer's Music, Mama Mocha's Cofee. and online at www.sundillamusic.com.
It would be possible to write a long review of Rupert Wates, using nothing but quotes from music critics, reviewers, and venue operators. Things such as "a ridiculously talented musician," from Kitchen Sink House Concerts in Arizona. Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange considers him "a prime figure in American music who's just biding his time until he's discovered." And Ryan Moore of AMP The Magazine wrote that he is "more compelling, more sympathetic and more emotionally accessible than many other modern performers."
How about this one: "Remember the days when Joni, Jackson, James and Neil lived in the canyon? That's exactly what you get with Rupert Wates. Long may he run" from Tom Semioli, from "Minor 7th Online." Or "Imagine the Moody Blues unplugged. That's Wates" by T Mannis, Rogers Park Bench BlogSpot. In one sentence, Rupert was compared favorably to Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, and Neil Young; one more sentence added The Moody Blues to the mix. If that's not high praise, nothing is.
We could do this for pages and pages; the great reviews don't stop. But that's just reading, and what we want you to do is hear him live. So get your tickets now to experience Rupert Wates in person on Friday, June 6. Showtime is 7:30 at the AUUF; we'll have free coffee, tea, water and food, though as always you are invited to bring tour own favorite food or beverage.
