THE HARDER THEY COME
Perry Henzell brought reggae music and Jamaica to the world in 1972 with this blazing film THE HARDER THEY COME.
Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff gives a searing performance as Ivan, a young songwriter who leaves country to find is fortune in the city. Quickly robbed and beaten, Ivan is orced to peddle ganga to survive.
But Ivan's desperation becomes his salvation. As he battles with the music business boss man, religious conservatives and criminals on both sides of the law, Ivan becomes a folk hero.
Soon Ivans name is found on the pop charts and most-wanted lists. Ivan would rather die than give up his dreams. And he goes down fighting.
Gritty, ground-breaking and graced with one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, The Harder They Come brought reggae to the international stage, helped make Dr. Jimmy Cliff a star, and demonstrated that music and film can change the world.
