The New York Comedy Contest

The Boston International Comedy & Movie Festival began back in 2000 as a way to showcase New England stand-up comedy talent to bigger audiences and the entertainment industry. Given the ling line of successful comedians who got their start in Boston, it seemed to be a natural fit for such a festival. The audience agreed, and the event has grown every year. In addition to the traditional stand-up comedy routines, the festival also includes improve, sketch comedy and one-person theatre shows, as well as the newly expanded movie portion of the festival.

Over the past seven years, weve expanded to over a week of festivities, including outdoor family-friendly events and $10,000 in prize money for the competition winners, thanks to our sponsor Vin DiBona. The addition of The Boston Park Plaza Hotel as the official host hotel and hub of the event has created a more centralized feel, and our partnerships with other sponsors have helped us to include over 30 Boston venues. The festival brings in big name stars including Lewis Black, George Carlin and Gallagher.

Enter the NEW YORK COMEDY COMPETITION ...

This June, the producers are planning to organize THE NY COMEDY COMPETITION with $5000 in prize money for the winner. The contest will also attract top entertainment industry as judges and scouts for the seven day event.

The contest will take place June 14 through 20 and the eight finalists will be automatically accepted to the Boston Comedy Festival. It is a contest run by comedians for comedians. The purpose of this week is to have a fair competition where comedians can get seen and hopefully get some help moving up the show business ladder.
