Stories From the Dark Side
The Stories from the Dark Side is a series of storytelling events taking place on the last Thursday of every month from April to June 2014, at the Grand Theater in Salem, Oregon. Each event will consist of seven to ten storytellers who will be given a prompt hours before the event with limited time to share a true story from their own dark side. Storytellers are selected at the OPEN CALL and selection will be based on their ability to tell a true story about a gritty, uncomfortable, or secret side of their own personal experience. Stories from the Dark Side was created as a way for people to come together and talk about subjects and experiences that are uncouth or culturally looked down upon. This sort of storytelling allows others to acknowledge their own hidden experiences without judgment. Telling true stories about difficult or rebellious things fosters empathy between the storyteller and listener, and sheds light on the truth that none of us are alone in our humanity.
Food and beer/wine available for purchase at the event.
Advance tickets are $10 each. Tickets at the door at $15 each.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Events starts at 7:30 p.m.
