Cat Dail & The Magnets w/The Bluebird Orchestra
Cat Dail is a singer songwriter/guitarist splitting her time between NYC and NH. Raised in Kansas City surrounded by blues and jazz greats, as a kid, she saw Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy Rich, and the Basie Band. She was equally immersed in country music, in authentic R&B and funk, and in all the usual pop influences we share, from Bob Marley to Feist. Cat's music is soulful, readily appealing, and her lyrics are smart. Her voice is singular: velvety and sexy, assertive and skilled. Her rhythm guitar work is the grounding, grooving force of her songs.
Cat Dail & The Magnets is an Indie Pop Rock band playing eclectic tunes for the heart and the head. Their newest release, The Wonder, is an infectious romp. Hard rocking, deep grooving, and super hooky, the record is a musical adventure. Thanks to Dail's feel for so many genres, there's a fantastic variety presented. Elements of pop, punk, reggae, funk, world beats, and gospel.
"Cat Dail's music is folk, funk and rock all mixed together. Kickin!" Kansas City Star
"Electrifying energy, down-home beat, and fun!" -- Villager
Opening the show will be Donald Saaf's quartet from Southern Vermont, The Bluebird Orchestra. The group draws it's influences from diverse corners, including the Carter Family, The Incredible String Band, Kurt Weill, and Thelonious Monk, while always keeping one foot in traditional American roots music. In any particular tune, you may encounter elements of folk, rock, early Jazz, Klezmer or even Polka music. Their music has been described as beautiful, sometimes sad, poignant and funny, sung and played with gusto, and sure to delight any audience.
