FreekBass CD Release Party
You wanna get funky?
Then it might be time to check out the latest album from Freekbass, Everybody's Feelin' Real.
The album's being billed as offering retro-modern funktronica grooves, and Freekbass cites everyone from David Bowie to Sly & the Family Stone to Dr. Dre as inspiration for the record's sonic qualities.
Horns on the record are handled by Les Claypool collaborator Skerik and in some cases, Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet and vocals) from the Trey Anastasio Band. Drummer Big Bamn from George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic is also in the band, and he and Freekbass will head out on tour as a duo later this month after the album's release.
"Think of a funk version of a Pretty Lights meets White Stripes," Freekbass said. "Bamn and I have a strong rhythmic flow together and think the sound will be big, wide and dirty. Very rhythmic and danceable."
