Bay Village and SOWA Open Market Tour
Boston Foodie Tours ("BFT") focuses on "award-winning best eats", including those of James Beard Award winners, celebrity chefs, Best of Boston winners, old food institutions, farmers' markets, and the city's most popular food trucks.
"BFT" has been awarded the 2014 and 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and maintains a 5-star guest rating on Yelp! Additionally, it has been rated the #2 "Don't Leave Boston Without..." by CBS-Boston, and featured in the Boston Herald, as well as on Chronicle, Boston's longest-running news and entertainment show.
This tour features Boston's smallest neighborhood *and* its largest, outdoor market.
Boston's Bay Village is a hidden gem that's considered Beacon Hill's younger sister. Bordering the Theatre District, the charming neighborhood of brick row houses and sunken gardens was the birthplace of famous American poet and short story writer Edgar Allan Poe. It was also the scene of Coconut Grove nightclub, which burned to the ground in November of 1942, killing 492 people. Today, Bay Village is known for one of Boston's best breakfast sandwiches, called "The Fancy".
What is SOWA? It's a district South of Washington Street in the South End, *and* it's the home of SOWA Open Market.
From May-October, Boston's locals flock to SOWA Open Market on Sundays. Off the beaten path, the Market, which is surrounded by art galleries and vintage shops, is spread out over three parking lots. Under a sea of white tents, you'll find a farmer's market and crafts and food artisans, along side popular food trucks.
First, we'll stop at a "Best of Boston" breakfast cafe that's the size of walk-in closet! Then onward we'll go to the Market, where we'll sample the most popular dishes of three food trucks. Lastly, we'll meet with local food artisans, and will sample their small-batch products.
We'll finish our tour with a sweet finale. And, for those who wish to, they'll still be time to explore the Market on your own, or to visit the neighborhood's wonderful specialty shops.
Join us as we "Stroll. Sample. Savor. Repeat." throughout one of Boston's favorite neighborhoods.
