Write Your Life Retreat in Lake Tahoe June 13th-15th
Write Your Life for the Page and the Stage

"As we write, we are both describing and deciding the direction that our life is taking. " Julia Cameron

This is an invitation for you to discover  your own unique and powerful story and the profound transformation that occurs when speaking it out loud. You'll learn to trust your creative impulses, embracing all of who you are.  By becoming the author of your own life and learning how to tell your own story, you will not only learn to craft your experience into a compelling narrative but you will also unleash a sense of purpose in your own life you never thought possible.

Through writing exercises, group discussion, and improvisation we  will support one another in creating and speaking our stories. This is a workshop for those interested in personal essay, memoir, solo performance, and self discovery.
Writing exercises to stimulate memory
Learning to structure the narrative in a compelling way
Discovering ways to create spontaneously
Overcoming performance anxiety
Tools to release yourself from the inner critic
Transforming your ideas/stories into performance

Workshop hours- Friday- 7-9pm
Saturday from 10am-5:30pm
Sunday from 10:00-5:30pm
We will break for lunch everyday at 1:30pm

Ann is considered one of the most gifted and innovative writer/performers in the U.S.  Her Ovation Award winning solo show, Squeeze Box was produced Off Broadway by Mel Brooks.  Ann just received "Best Solo Performer 2011" by the LA Times for her current show, LOVELAND. Her personal essays have been featured on NPR, BBC, and PBS.  She teaches and tours at Esalen, Kripalu and theaters throughout the country.

Lodging and Meals are not included.  Room rates in the cabin and in the cabin next door vary. This is a note from the host of the retreat, Sheila Newton-"I have 2 beautiful cabins on my property. The workshop will be held at the lakeside cabin. The cabin is within
a 15 min walk of restaurants, markets, snack bars, a post office, the westshore museum, paddle board/bicycle rentals and water-ski lessons. Sugar pine state park, chamberlands beach with bar and restaurant, emerald bay with vijingsholm, and tahoe city all within 5-30 min from homewood. My property backs up to maintained hiking trails to Quail lake and to Miller lake and as well fronts on the lake circuit bike trail. There are 10 bedrooms, private or shared and each cabin has full kitchen/laundry/cable and internet. Looking forward to being in the Sierras and writing up a storm.
