SMOKE CABARET -- Starring Lori Rivera
SMOKE is a one-woman show, exploring the mysteries of love in spoken word, music and song.  The Casanova's performances, on three consecutive Wednesdays:  June 17, June 24 and July 1, combines a sumptuous three-course meal with musical numbers written by Joe Ortiz of Gayle's Bakery in Capitola and a sparse but witty libretto, crafted by Ortiz, Ms. Rivera, Artistic Director, Greg Fritsch and New York playwright Kathy Chetkovich.

SMOKE is the story of two women--Celeste, the young innocent who is unlucky in love, and the worldly gypsy, Francesca (both played by Ms. Rivera).

The 12 songs that comprise the musical, all written by Joe Ortiz, have had many lives: in 2002 in BREAD!--The Musical, and in 2004 at KITCHEN KABARET at Michael's on Main Restaurant in Soquel.  Ortiz's small jazz-dinner-theatre company has performed over 100 different shows in venues throughout California, from Napa to Murphys, from Carmel to Maui.
