Three bands take over the carpets at The Lizard Lounge tonight. The roots and rock of Mike Hastings Band and The Ryan Taylor band mix it up with the grooves of Brew d'Etat.
MIKE HASTINGS BAND
Local folk rock fave, Mike Hastings, fronts the Mike Hastings Band. With all the street smarts that a truly traditional troubador should possess, Mike proudly wears the title. With a strong root in drumming Mike does do some work as a drummer for the West African rock band Samba Lolo, this strong footing in rhythm also guides his development of original songs into dynamic groove oriented music.
RYAN TAYLOR BAND
Steeped in various forms of traditional music, Ryan Taylor Band focuses on strong songwriting and 4-part vocal harmonies to create a dynamic and layered sonic blanket that is the bedrock of American roots music. There are definite bluegrass and folk tendencies found in their sound mixed with elements of rock making for lush and dense songs that sound all-at-once traditional and contemporary.
