Oh great, another stand-up show. Just another night of funny comedians telling hilarious jokes, relating humorous anecdotes, revealing deep (and often times troubling) personal insights and reminding everyone in attendance of how stand-up comedy is a truly under-appreciated art. Ho-hum, big whoop, amiright?
But do you know what the baffling (alright, it's downright flabbergasting) thing is about this show? It's only going to happen once.
That's right folksnever before has such a collection of amazing stand-up comedians been assembled and then promptly contractually obligated to never work together under this exact configuration and show title again. This is "One and Done" for reals.
Featuring:
CLIFFORD MYERS: Hamilton's own typhoon of volume and high energy comedy, having opened for the likes of Gerry Dee, Steven Wright, and Kyle Kinane. Warning; he may also have a heart of gold, but this has not be substantiated.
DIANA BAILEY: Pint-sized and wonderfully strange, Diana is the pride of Scarborough, Ontario (whether they like it or not) including appearances in the Toronto Fringe, NXNE and Dark Comedy festivals.
MARITO LOPEZ: There are no details needed to describe this comedian, which is good because he never provided any. Originally from Calgary and usually wears a hat, so that will have to do.
DAVE BURKE: Halifaxian, bespectacled and generally delightful, though he does kind of looks like Josh Groban after a few love-taps from the "funny" stick.
And your host:
FRANCIS BRIAN SHAW: all the way from Nanaimo, BC (7th most undesirable place to live in Canada as per a recent poll); he has a beard he is proud of and has yelled funny at drunken strangers in dozens of cities and towns across the US and Canada.
This is a comedy event so AMAZING the laws of physics and the constraints of logical thinking will only allow such a thing to happen once AND ONCE ONLY. Missing this event to do anything else is the entertainment equivalent of switching off the moon-landing to watch a Tidy-Bowl commercial.
