SKYSCRAPER by David Auburn
On one rainy night, the lives of six people -- a preservation activist, a demolition contractor, a promiscuous young lawyer, a Navy dropout, a 110-year-old man and a suicidal young woman -- collide on the rooftop of a historic building targeted for demolition. A dark comedy about memory, coincidence, love and preservation, by the author of PROOF and directed by Chris Rohmann.
Performed in the Northampton Community Arts Trust building, SKYSCRAPER offers a preview of the Valley's exciting new arts center before extensive renovations begin later this year -- an evening of compelling theater that links past and future.
The performance is a co-production of the Center for the Arts and The Skyscraper Project, an ad hoc ensemble of theater artists working collaboratively on an equal profit-sharing basis to model a more rational and equitable approach to performing arts partnerships in the Valley. The cast features Carissa Dagenais, Troy David Mercier, R. Steve Pierce, John Sheldon, Katelyn Tsukada and Pam Victor. Assistant director, Danielle Connor. Stage manager, Karin Perlman. Lighting design by Reilly Horan.
