LEO BLANCO
Pianist and composer leader of a world/jazz ensemble, a band that performs his original music, a blend of South American and world rhythms with elements of jazz and contemporary music. Leo has shared the stage with major international jazz artists such as Terence Blanchard, Pat Metheny, João Bosco, among others. Leo was the first Latin American to win prestigious Jazz awards: the Boston Jazz Society Award and the Billboard Grant Award being a guest of many important music festivals, such as Newport Jazz Festival (USA), Monterey Jazz Festival (USA), North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland) & Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland). In his renowned piano improvisations coexist his academic music training and his South-American, African, jazz and world music influences. These influences are distinct in his produced albums Fin del Primer Capítulo, Roots & Effect, Africa Latina and Pianoforte.
