Here we go again! The next Welcome to Bohemia Event will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2014, at TheaterWorks Hartford, at 9pm. A VIP reception will begin at 7:30pm.
This show will feature the (un)usual array of wonders: music, dance and spectacles and libations and surprises! DJ Christian Cajar will spin the main event, and Bandshes will perform a set of their original alt pop. There will also be a special performance of "The most lamentable comedy, and most cruel death of Pyramus and Thisby" (from A Midsummer Night's Dream) by players from The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. Expect other entertainments and surprises, including an appearance by models from the recent Trashion Fashion show!
A VIP reception begins at 7:30pm, with complimentary wine and finger foods, artist talks and entertainment. The main event will offer a cash bar with beer and wine. Proper ID will be required from all. Tickets for both are available at bohemia4.brownpapertickets.com. VIP tickets are $25, and include admission to the main event. Tickets for the main event are $12. in advance, or $15. at the door (cash only).
The theme of this show, which coincides with the May 17th opening of LOVE/SICK at TheaterWorks, revolves around the dichotomy of the blossom and decay of love. Saplings born in April rise from the matter of their ancestors, grow, die, and become that matter. Likewise, love is born, lives and dies; and its ashes are the soil in which new love grows.
Visual art for the show will explore love and its cycle of birth, blossom, decay, and rebirth, as well as the juxtaposition of those, literally and metaphorically.
